"The Radisson Blu Edwardian Heathrow was very stylish, and with no outside noise, it was hard to believe we were right beside the airport."

FOOD AND DRINK | Radisson Blu Heathrow

The Radisson Blu Edwardian Heathrow hotel has a brand new restaurant with an American theme. Additionally, the Bijou Bar is a relaxed option to enjoy a drink or for an informal meeting.

THE OCEANIC RESTAURANT

Travel back to 1920s America for steak, seafood and milkshakes in the mouthwatering Oceanic Restaurant. Named after the original name of Heathrow's Terminal 3 when it opened in 1961 for transatlantic flights, this newly revamped restaurant is a vibrant, art deco-style venue. With a striking, illuminated bar, a DJ at weekends, and a to-die-for menu with everything from grilled sauerkraut and Swiss cheese sandwiches to Rockefeller oysters, it's really worth indulging yourself at the Radisson Blu Edwardian.

We really wouldn't know how to choose between the myriad hot dogs, sandwiches, fish, seafood, meat and vegetarian dishes on offer, although we'd be tempted by the double hamburger, the minute steak sandwich, the potato skins with quorn chilli and the Canadian lobster. But in the end we'd probably have to try the restaurant's signature chicken quesadilla with sour cream and salsa, with sweetcorn chowder and corn bread to start, and white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake to finish.

Furthermore, if you want a breakfast that will really set you up for the day, you've come to the right place. There's an all-day menu which actually includes sirloin steak and eggs, as well as other delights including French toast with bacon, bananas and maple syrup, or waffles with bacon, peaches and maple syrup. The super-sounding buffet, which is served from 6am to 10.30am, features a waffle machine and a smoothie bar as well as plenty of other hot and cold options. There's fresh fruit, fruit juice, savoury and sweet breads, bacon, eggs however you like them, omelettes and much more. Honey lovers will be excited to know that there's even comb honey.

For dessert there's the lemon cheesecake with soft cheese, vanilla ice cream and limoncello; or the mocha fudge with cognac, coffee ice cream, chocolate ice cream and sticky toffee fudge sauce. The drinks menu is also one of the most awesome we've ever seen, mainly because it features a selection of alcoholic milkshakes. There's also a cocktail menu and an impressive range of other drinks, including draft and bottled beers, Scotch, Irish and American whiskeys, champagne and an extensive list of wines and other spirits.

BIJOU BAR

A dramatic new departure, Bijou Bar brings West End style to London's Heathrow airport. The chandeliered bar shares the same extensive drinks menu as the Oceanic (apart from the milkshakes), and also serves hot drinks, including a range of liqueur coffees, plus sandwiches, burgers, snacks and desserts. It's open from 5pm to 1am on weekdays and 8am to 1am at weekends - the bar menu is available all the time, plus there's afternoon tea from 2.30pm to 5pm at weekends. Oceanic is open all day until 11pm, with last orders at 10.30pm.
